The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage and assist students planning to continue their education in college or in vocational school programs.
James and Diane Sutton began their professional and marital journey in Circleville. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, while Diane earned her Registered Nurse designation upon completing a three-year nursing diploma program. From the outset, they have prioritized education and lifelong learning as fundamental values.
With the birth of their children, the Suttons initiated a savings plan to secure their children’s ability to pursue higher education or vocational training. Consequently, four of their children have earned Bachelor of Science degrees, with one also attaining a Master of Science degree. Another child has established a successful career in the trades as an Electrician. The Suttons have perpetuated this tradition by creating an Education Fund at the birth of each grandchild, a practice they continue with each new great-grandchild.
Jim and Diane have demonstrated a strong commitment to community service, dedicating their time and resources to numerous organizations. Their contributions include active involvement with their church, Community United Methodist Church, coaching Little League, supporting the Red Cross Blood Bank, participating in school activities, serving as 4-H leaders, volunteering at Slate Run Metro Park, aiding Habitat for Humanity, and participating in the Pumpkin Show. Their philanthropic efforts remain focused on initiatives that benefit education, children, and youth.
