2025 Beef Project supporting our community and combating food insecurities

Westfall wrestlers volunteered to help move more than 6,000 lbs. of ground beef to 12 area non-profits as part of PCCF’s 2025 Beef Project.

The Pickaway County Community Foundation has completed the 2025 Beef Project, delivering over 6,100 lbs. to Pickaway County non-profit organizations that help tackle food insecurity in our local communities.

PCCF, with help from Nick Pruitt from Heritage Nazarene Church, Fallon Kingery from PICCA and Tim Geiger and his Westfall Middle School wrestlers helped distribute the beef to 12 different non-profits across the county including in Circleville, Williamsport, Orient, and Ashville.

Haven House of Pickaway County, The Table, The Village Table, Ashville Food Pantry, PICCA, Emergency Clearinghouse of Pickaway County, Pickaway Area Recovery Services, Williamsport United Methodist Church, Community Kitchen, Westfall CARES, Derby United Methodist Church and The Covering all received beef as part of the project.

Alexis Conrad, PCCF executive director, said, “This year’s project was an incredible success and to give more than 6,000 lbs., just over three tons, of high-quality beef to the tables of families in Pickaway County is no small task. We’re grateful to our community partners, donors and volunteers that help us make this project a reality each year. Giving so much, including their time and energy, to make this project happen.”

The beef comes from the junior livestock exhibitors who bring steer to the Pickaway County Fair. This year 14 steer in total were purchased via a packer bid by PCCF at a premium price of $2.30 per lb. This is the fifth year of the beef project, where total distribution has been more than 61,000 lbs.

PCCF received support from local organizations that helped make this year a success. Organizations include Well-Being Foundation (WBF), OhioHealth, Health Care Logistics, The Circleville Eagles #685, Jay-Car Construction, VFW #3331, Voss Bros. Sales & Rentals, PICCA, the Westfall Wrestling program and coach Tim Geiger, and Train Station Meats & Market

Tim Gieger, Westfall Middle School wrestling coach, said, “The Westfall wrestling program gets a lot of support from our community so when PCCF asked us to help the community by moving more than 6,000 lbs. of beef to local food pantries, our kids did not hesitate to volunteer. Hard work is just another normal day for these kids, and it shows. As a coach, I am very proud of this group of young men; as a member of the community, I am grateful that there are groups like PCCF and Westfall wrestling that are volunteering their time to help fight food insecurity.”
